Homraj Acharya is an international development and public policy professional, social justice, climate advocate and a changemaker with over 15 years of experience both in the U.S. and South Asia. In the beginning of 2019, he conceptualized, designed and executed the Nepal Padayatra 2019, a walk across Nepal to bring attention to the continuing practice of untouchability, racial and caste-based discrimination and generate practical, locally based solutions through interactions with hundreds of municipalities and thousands of individuals along the over 800-mile route.
In December of 2020, Acharya awarded the title of changemaker by a New York-based publication, Nepalism.com. As a thought leader, he has mentored, inspired and worked with diverse groups of people to establish initiatives to tackle local challenges and find collaborative solutions. He has engaged extensively with elected officials, governments, private enterprises, civil society organizations, and trade and business associations to promote fair laws, implement public-private partnerships, and strengthen mechanisms for encouraging inclusive policy development processes, climate, caste and racial justice.
